Former Congresswoman Mary Rose Oakar endorses Justin Bibb for Mayor

PRESS RELEASE - Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2021 - Cleveland, OH – Former Congresswoman and City Councilwoman Mary Rose Oakar today endorsed Justin Bibb for mayor of Cleveland, one week before Election Day.

“I’ve had the pleasure of serving our community as a Congresswoman, City Councilwoman, State Representative and a member of the State Board of Education. I was first elected to the U.S. Congress when I was 36-years-old."

"I see in Justin what I felt in myself - youthful energy, a compulsion to be of service and clear vision for the future,” Oakar said in her endorsement.

“Justin has the energy, skills and vision to lead Cleveland through our toughest challenges. Cleveland is at the center of a public safety crisis and our greatest city assets like the West Side Market hang in the balance. I’m experienced enough to know it’s time for re-energized, renewed leadership at City Hall,” Oakar added.

Bibb thanked Oakar and vowed to bring new ideas to propel Cleveland to a better future.

“I am deeply grateful to earn the endorsement of a trailblazer like former Congresswoman Oakar,” Bibb said. “She paved the way for young leaders in Ohio and continues to serve as a community leader fighting for the voiceless.”
